SMS Notifications Program

How text-message opt-in works on the Scott-Phillips Family reunion website

The Scott-Phillips Family Reunion website sends SMS text messages only to members who explicitly opt in. This page documents the program and the opt-in process, which takes place inside members' password-protected accounts.

What We Send

Event notifications and announcements — reunion dates, family news, and new content on the site — for members who subscribe to SMS notifications.

Two-factor authentication codes — one-time login verification codes, sent only to members who enable SMS two-factor authentication in their security settings.

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Consent is not a condition of membership or of any purchase.

How Members Opt In

Step 1. A family member creates an account and signs in. All opt-in controls are inside the member's own account.

Step 2. After signing in, members see a notification subscription prompt. Clicking Subscribe opts them in to notifications. SMS messages are sent only once a mobile number is on file.

Step 3. Alternatively (and to provide their phone number), members open their Profile page, turn on the Text (SMS) notifications switch — off by default — enter their mobile number, review the consent disclosure, and click Save Preferences.

Two-factor authentication codes have a separate, independent opt-in: the member must enable two-factor authentication in Profile → security settings and provide a phone number specifically for verification codes.

How Members Opt Out

Members can stop SMS messages at any time by replying STOP (or STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, REVOKE, or OPTOUT) to any message, or by turning off the SMS notifications switch on their Profile page. Replying HELP or INFO returns help information. Members can rejoin by replying START or re-enabling the switch.

Privacy

Mobile phone numbers and SMS opt-in consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and are used only to deliver the messages described above. See our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions for full details.
